ssbn Members are independent, locally owned businesses, farms, nonprofits, organizations, and individuals who are committed to building an economy that values people, planet, and prosperity for all.
If you are considering ssbn membership, please first review our Benefits list on our home page and take a few moments to answer the questions listed below to determine the best type of membership for you.

Sustainability Pledges. Our members make Sustainability Pledges for what they can do with their business to benefit our local economy, environment, their workplace and community. Each pledge is unique and represents some step forward toward a sustainable community. Please share with us your pledge area so that we can support you as best we can.
Pledge areas include: Alternative Fuels/Transportation, Renewable Energy, Recycled Paper Products, Sourcing Locally, Reducing Waste and Water Pollution, Organic and Local Food Products, Fair Trade Products, Fair Wages, Green Building, Other.
Members receive a free listing in The Green Pages. Our 2008 Green Pages will
be released this Fall! Our 2007 Green Pages list dozens of local, sustainable businesses, ranging from solar panel dealers to organic produce growers to recycled paper companies. Check it out by clicking here.
Criteria for Membership
1. Is your business privately held (not publicly traded)? Yes or No.
2. Do the business owners, totaling greater than 50% of the business ownership, live in Lancaster or York County or surrounding area? Yes or No.
3. Is your business registered in the state of Pennsylvania, with no corporate or national headquarters outside of Lancaster or York County? Yes or No.
4. Can your business make independent decisions regarding the name and look of your business, as well as business purchasing, practices and distribution? Yes or No.
5. Do you pay all of your own marketing, rent and other business expenses (without assistance from, or payment to, a corporate headquarters)? Yes or No.

If you answered yes to all the questions, you are encouraged to become a ssbn Business Member. If you answered no to any question, we encourage your involvement as a ssbn Community Member. Welcome!
